Kadowaki Eiji's body is discovered in Beika Park with his head split open. Later, a fire breaks out at the Kadowaki family residence, killing Kadowaki Yasuko. Megure believes someone who bore a grudge against the Kadowaki family is responsible for both Eiji's murder and the fire, but Conan and Kogoro believe Eiji's murder was committed by Takase out of hatred for Yasuko.
